The police in Malaysia has more than a thousand bitcoin (BTC) miners seized. And then what did it do with these valuable machines; auction or give away? No, they went over it with the waltz!
News website Dayak Daily recently shared a video on YouTube. At the police station in Miri on the island of Borneo, a waltz can be seen crossing the bitcoin miners drive out and destroy them completely. The images will certainly be painful for companies and people who have a bitcoin mining operation themselves.
It concerns 1,069 mining rigs. These are special computers intended to mine crypto. They differ from normal computers in that they have a different kind of processor on board. This processor is good at a single task, encrypting data and generating hash keys. Perfect for mining crypto.
The miners were destroyed because they were involved in illegal mining practices. Several residents of the city of Miri are said to have illegally tried to mine crypto with stolen electricity. The local power supplier has lost $2 million as a result.
The mining rigs being bulldozed in the video have a combined value of $1.2 million. So it’s striking that the authorities in Malaysia haven’t tried to get anything out of it one way or another. Bitcoin mining is still very popular and there will be many people who would have given something for it! Other countries confiscate miners more often, but they have never been destroyed.
