King of Malaysia or Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa was greatly disappointed PM Malaysia Muhyiddin Yassin. How not? The Malaysian government under the command of Muhyiddin Yassin repealed six emergency rules related to the Corona pandemic (COVID-19) without a king.

As reported by The Star, Thursday (29/7/2021), it turns out that the revocation is also without going through the discussion process in parliament. It was the decision to withdraw without discussion that later, as reported by the Kingdom of Malaysia, shocked Al-Sultan Abdullah.

Meanwhile, the House Supervisor of Istana Negara Malaysia, Datuk Ahmad Fadil Shamdussin, said the Yang di-Pertuan Agong has the authority to enforce and revoke the emergency order. The discussion is clearly stated in article 150 paragraph 2 (b) and article 150 paragraph (3) of the Federal Constitution.

“In this regard, His Majesty expresses disappointment at the July 26 statement in parliament that the government has revoked all the Emergency Regulations announced by the King during the emergency period, although His Majesty has not approved the repeal,” said Ahmad Fadil in a statement.

Not only that, he revealed that the King of Malaysia also expressed great frustration because his proposal for the revocation of the Emergency Rules to be submitted and discussed in parliament, was not implemented.

“His Majesty’s proposal was previously approved in a virtual meeting on July 24 with Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Parliamentary Affairs and Law) Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan and Attorney General Tan Sri Idrus Harun,” Ahmad Fadil said.

“His Majesty stressed that the statement made by the Minister of Parliamentary Affairs on July 26 was inaccurate and has confused the People’s Council,” he added.

Then Ahmad Fadil said that the King of Malaysia also felt that the revocation of the emergency rule in Malaysia seemed hasty and confusing because it did not go through a discussion in parliament according to the existing legal rules.

Yang di-Pertuan Agong feels that the hasty repeal of the (Emergency) Rules and contradictory and confusing statements made in parliament does not respect the principle of law enforcement. It also does not respect the functions and powers of Yang Initiate as head of state, as enshrined in the Federal Constitution. ,” he insisted.
