Malaysia U-19 managed to become champion AFF U-19 Cup 2022 after beating Laos U-19 with a score of 2-0 in the final match.
The 2022 AFF U-19 Cup final brings together Malaysia U-19 against Laos U-19 at Patriot Chandrabhaga Stadium, Bekasi, Friday (15/7) night.
The match was tough with a number of fouls and yellow cards colored the course of the match which was held on a slippery field after heavy rain.

Buying and selling direct attacks by both teams from the beginning of the game. Laos got the first opportunity in the third minute after using a set piece.
While Malaysia was able to threaten the goal of Laos through a sharp counterattack. In the 13th minute Malaysia managed to lead 1-0 through Muhammad Faiz’s goal.
Starting from a free kick, Muhammad Aliff as the executor directly directed the ball into the Laos goal mouth. Faiz struck the ball with a touch of the left foot.
In the 23rd minute the Laos set piece was also able to threaten the Malaysian goal. However, the Laos players’ shot attempts were still secured by the Malaysian goalkeeper.
In the 33rd minute Malaysia got a golden opportunity through Adam Farhan. But his shot from inside the penalty box was still slightly off the right side of the Laos goal.
Then in the 38th minute Laos had a golden opportunity through Anantaza Siphongphan after taking advantage of the chaos in front of the Malaysian goal. Unfortunately the shot can still be secured by the Malaysian goalkeeper.
No additional goals were created until the first half ended. Malaysia won 1-0 over Laos in the first round.
In the second half Malaysia tried to take over the game through strong ball possession. While Laos played direct by relying on the speed of the players.
In the 62nd minute Malaysia got a golden opportunity through Muhammad Faiz after continuing Muhammad Alif Farhan’s mature pass. However, Faiz’s flick can still be blocked by Laos goalkeeper Phounin Xayyasone.
From the 70th to 74th minute Laos bombarded the Malaysian defense through crosses. However, the Malaysian goalkeeper’s brilliant performance was able to secure his goal by successfully cutting off the Lao players’ sharp passes.
However, in the 76th minute it was Malaysia who managed to increase the advantage through Muhammad Aliff’s goal after continuing Faiz’s pass from the right side.
Until the game ended no additional goals were created. Malaysia won 2-0 over Laos and won the 2022 AFF U-19 Cup.
This is the second time Malaysia has won the title in the history of participating in the U-19 AFF Cup. Previously, Malaysia won the 2018 AFF U-19 Cup.
In addition to the two-time champions, Malaysia has been runner-up six times, once in third place, and twice finished fourth in the AFF U-19 Cup.
