Following the Indonesia-Vietnam semi-final first leg at the GBK Stadium on Friday (6/1), Malaysia will host defending champions and Group A winners Thailand at Bukit Jalil Stadium.

Malaysia qualified for the semi-finals of the 2022 AFF Cup as Group B runners-up, while Thailand beat Indonesia as Group A winners.
Thailand will take on Malaysia in front of over 50,000 home fans. The hosts lost the support of 21,000 spectators as seats in the stadium were used for a Jay Chou concert.
“The atmosphere at Bukit Jalil Stadium is different and we hope to get the win. Thailand are a good team and it’s always difficult to play against them, they have new players and they have a different tactical approach,” said Malaysia’s Brendan Gan.
Meanwhile, Thai player, Sasalak Haiprakhon, is confident in his side’s ability to reduce Malaysia’s resistance in the first leg.
“Malaysian players are good fighters but we are confident they can do well and all the players are focused on getting good results here. It’s important to get good results here before going home for the second leg,” said Sasalak.
