Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Malaysia supported Iran and urged Israel not to escalate the situation. This was announced by Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.
Anwar said in a LinkedIn post that he chaired a Special Meeting of the National Security Council this morning, Monday (15/4/2024).
The aim of the meeting attended by other government officials was to further discuss the heated situation in the Middle East, based on discussions held yesterday.
This meeting, which was held two days in a row, shows how seriously the Malaysian government sees developments in tensions in the Middle East. As well as efforts to protect the Malaysian people from the effects of war.
The Iranian drone launch was a trial after the Zionist government of Israel attacked the Iranian Embassy in Damascus.
“We join the entire civilized world in urging the Zionist regime of Israel not to make this already very tense situation worse. It clearly shows that the world does not want to see the situation get worse,” Anwar wrote in his LinkedIn post.
According to him, so far the impact on the Malaysian economy is minimal with KLSE opening slightly lower reflecting regional trends.
Regardless, the Madani government will continue to monitor this situation closely and take proactive measures to ensure the safety and well-being of all Malaysians.
“The interests of the country are our main consideration,” he said.
According to him, the most important thing to solve this problem is a proper and immediate solution to the inhumane situation in Gaza. Therefore, global attention must be focused on the issue.
“There must be a long-term ceasefire that will allow humanitarian aid to flow. In this regard, Malaysia’s latest aid of 100 vehicles is expected to leave Malaysia on April 27.” he concluded.
