TRIBUNNEWS.COM – Malaysia will stop using the Covid-19 vaccine produced by Sinovac from China after the stock runs out.
Malaysia’s Ministry of Health said that currently the country already has enough other types of vaccines to continue its vaccination programme.
Reported Reuters, now Malaysia will use mRNA vaccines from Pfizer-BioNTech.
This was conveyed by the Minister of Health of Malaysia, Adham Baba in a press conference with other top ministry officials on Thursday (15/7/2021).
According to the government, Malaysia has now secured around 45 million doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine.

This amount is sufficient to inoculate 70% of the population, compared to 16 million doses of Sinovac.
“About half of the 16 million (Sinovac) have been distributed, so the rest will be used for the second dose of vaccine,” said Adham.
“For those who have not been vaccinated, they will receive the Pfizer vaccine,” he continued.
According to reports Malay Mail, Minister of Health Adham said that the state of Kelantan would stop supplying the Sinovac vaccine and switch to Pfizer, while other states would follow suit.
“So it (the use of Pfizer’s vaccine) started in Kelantan and soon other states will follow,” he said.
