Jakarta, CNN Indonesia —
The Malaysian Securities Commission suspended operations on the Binance cryptocurrency trading platform on Friday (30/7) local time.
The Securities Commission issued a warning to Binance Holdings Limited, CEO Zhao Changpeng and three other affiliated entities registered in the UK, Lithuania and Singapore. The reprimand was given because so far it has continued to operate in Malaysia even though it has been banned.
Currently, the Securities Commission is asking Binance to disable websites, mobile apps, stop media and marketing activities, and restrict Malaysian investors from accessing the company’s Telegram group.
“Those who currently have Binance accounts are urged to immediately stop trading and withdraw all their investments,” the Malaysian regulator said.
Meanwhile, Binance said on the same day that it would stop offering futures and derivatives products throughout Europe because its position is currently under pressure from various governments around the world.
