KOMPAS.com – Malaysian National Team lost 1-2 to Laos in the inaugural match of Group B AFF Cup U23 2022.
The Laos vs Malaysia match was held at Prince Stadium in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, on Friday (18/2/2022) afternoon WIB.
The young Malaya Tigers team, which was actually the favorite, lost surprisingly after winning 1-0.

Winger, Selvan Anbualagan, opened Malaysia’s lead early towards the end of the first half (45+1′).
Brad Maloney’s team then conceded twice after being conceded by Bounphachan Bounkong (56′) and Phetdavanh Somsanid (79′) in the second half.
Furthermore, Malaysia and Laos will again compete at the Morodok Techo National Stadium on Monday (21/2/2022).
The AFF decided to make Malaysia and Laos duel twice in Group B.

Because, only the two teams left in Group B following the withdrawal of the Indonesian and Myanmar national teams from the AFF U23 Cup.
The three group winners in 2022 AFF U23 Cup will automatically qualify for the semifinals.
Meanwhile, another ticket will be contested by runner-up best.
