Malaysia Military Camp Shooting, 3 Air Force Personnel Killed

Incident shooting occurred at a military camp in the city of Samarahan, Sarawak, Malaysia. At least three Malaysian Air Force (AU) personnel were killed and another was seriously injured.

As reported The Star, Friday (13/8/2021), Sarawak Police Commissioner, Aidi Ismail, in a statement said that the shooting occurred at a guard post in the Malaysian Air Force or RMAF camp.

“Preliminary investigation found that the incident involved four RMAF personnel on duty at the guard post,” Aidi said in a statement.

“Three personnel died instantly at the scene, while one other suffered serious injuries and was taken to the Sarawak Heart Center in Samarahan city for treatment,” he added.

Aidi stated that an investigation was ongoing into the incident.

The RMAF in a separate statement confirmed a shooting incident involving its personnel. However, the cause of the incident is not yet clearly known. It was only mentioned that the shooting incident occurred on Friday (13/8) morning at around 07.15 local time.

The RMAF urged the public not to speculate about the shooting incident and let the police complete their investigation. “We have handed the case over to the police for investigation,” the RMAF statement said.

“We will also establish an investigative board to identify the cause of the incident,” the statement added.
