Minister of Trade Zulkifli Hasan said that Malaysia was the country with the largest transactions at the 38th Trade Expo Indonesia (TEI). The transaction amount reached US$ 6.28 billion or the equivalent of Rp. 99.85 trillion (exchange rate Rp. 15,900).
This was conveyed by Zulhas during the closing momentum of the 38th TEI in 2023. This event was held offline at ICE BSD during 18-22 October 2023 and online 18 October-18 December 2023.
“The 10 largest countries carrying out transactions during TEI 2023 are Malaysia,” said Zulhas, at ICE BSD, Tangerang, Sunday (22/10/2023).
In second place, India amounted to US$ 6.22 billion, then China or the People’s Republic of China (PRC) US$ 5.58 billion, Vietnam US$ 811.28 million, the Netherlands US$ 696.28 million. Then there is Egypt with transactions of US$ 561.72 million, the Philippines US$ 526 million, the United States US$ 423 million, Japan US$ 330 million, the UAE US$ 295 million.
During the five days that TEI 2023 was held, Zulhas said that total transactions reached US$ 25.3 billion or the equivalent of Rp. 401.5 trillion. In total, this event was also attended by almost 33 thousand visitors and was attended by 1,232 business actors.
“1,232 business actors, almost 33 thousand visitors, who came from almost 114 countries. The number of transactions per day (at 11.00 WIB) of the Trade Expo was recorded at US$ 25.3 billion. Equivalent to 401.5 trillion rupiah. Extraordinary,” he explained .
Zulhas said that this figure exceeded the target of only US$ 11 billion or could be said to have doubled. He further detailed that the transactions consisted of goods and services worth US$ 22.49 billion, including goods worth US$ 18.31 billion, daily transactions of US$ 4.17 billion, business matching US$ 18.9 million.
“Apart from that, investment transactions of US$ 2.81 billion were also recorded. Investments in the medical equipment sector, educational cooperation with China. The value is huge,” he said.
Then, the 10 best-selling export products and services include coal worth US$ 13.26 billion, chemical and organic chemical products US$ 2.92 billion, strategic industries US$ 2.73 billion, electronics US$ 612.32 billion, processed food US$ 449.88 million, agricultural products, paper and other paper products, coffee, tea, jewelry and seafood fish products. Meanwhile, from Jakarta Muslim Fashion Week, transactions were recorded at US$ 20.1 million.
