Malaysia Hajar Singapore, accompanies Vietnam to the semifinals

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

Malaysia successfully beat Singapore by a landslide score of 4-1. The result led them to accompany Vietnam to qualify for the semi-finals AFF Cup 2022.

Malaysia found it difficult to dismantle Singapore’s defense in the first 30 minutes. Singapore, which only needed a draw to qualify for the semi-finals of the 2022 AFF Cup, has managed to show off a strong and solid defence.

But Malaysia’s efforts to dismantle Malaysia’s defense finally paid off in the 35th minute. Darren Lok successfully received a cross which was released by Safawi Rasid from the left side of Singapore’s defence.

A 1-0 first half lead made Malaysia look more confident in the second half. As a result, Malaysia can score two more goals in the first 10 minutes of the second half.

Two further goals for Malaysia were produced by Stuart Wilkin. Wilkin’s first goal came from a powerful strike from outside the area in the 50th minute.

Wilkin’s hard kick was blocked by Singapore goalkeeper Hassan Sunny. But the ball still can’t bear to go on goal.

Four minutes later, Wilkin again listed his name on the scoreboard. Wilkin first made a circular motion to outwit the Singapore defenders and then sent the ball into the net with a left footed shot.

Singapore had made Malaysia a bit tense with an 85th-minute reply scored by Faris Ramli. After the goal, Singapore had another chance to threaten the Malaysian goal.

However, Sergio Aguero’s goal with an accurate shot at the far post in the 88th minute ensured Malaysia were back in a comfortable position at the end of the game.

In other matches, Vietnam successfully confirmed their position as group winners. Vietnam was able to beat Myanmar with a score of 3-0.

Vietnam’s winning goal was produced by Kyaw Zin Lwin’s own goal and Nguyen Tienh Linh’s goal in the 27th minute of the first round. In the second half, Vietnam added a lead through Chau Ngoc Quang in the 72nd minute.
