Malaysia started inoculation with COVID-19 Vaccine made by Chinese biopharmaceutical company Sinovac Biotech. Malaysian Minister of Science, Technology, and Innovation Khairy Jamaluddin became the first recipient of the Sinovac vaccine at Rembau Hospital.
The Malaysian government plans to inoculate at least 80 percent of the country’s more than 31 million population in a national immunization program that begins in February, with 20 percent of the population expected to receive the Sinovac vaccine.
Malaysia reported 1,219 new COVID-19 infections as of Wednesday, bringing the national total to 327,253. The death toll reached 1,220.
