Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Police officers inside Malaysia reportedly guarding strategic areas in the country. Roadblocks have even been seen being set up in many places in the neighboring country.
Controls have also been tightened. This is related to the heated political situation after the general election (election) was unable to appoint a new prime minister (PM).
“The establishment of this post is part of an effort to prevent crime … to ensure public safety and order,” said Inspector General of Police Tan Sri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani. Malaysian PostWednesday (11/23/2022).
“The public is invited to cooperate in complying with the instructions given at each checkpoint,” he added.
Meanwhile, Malaysia’s King Al-Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah is reportedly holding an emergency meeting with the country’s nine ruling sultans. The extraordinary meeting will be held tomorrow, November 24th.

The meeting will take place at 10.30 local time. Possible talk time of three hours.
“It is understood that His Majesty will seek the opinion of the rulers regarding the impasse in the formation of a federal government,” Malaysian media The Star said, citing the palace on Facebook.
“A source from the Palace said the special meeting would be very important,” the media added.
“The king has tried to form a unity government consisting of Pakatan Harapan and Perikatan Nasional but has so far failed,” he wrote.
Malaysia’s general election resulted in an unprecedented ‘hung parliament’. Where neither of the two main PM candidates, Anwar Ibrahim and Muhyiddin Yasin, won the majority to form a government.
The Barisan Nasional Coalition, which is the incumbent, has said it will not back either candidate. This is a move that will prevent Anwar and Muhyiddin from reaching a majority.
Consequently, constitutionally, the situation now depends on the king. The king actually plays a ceremonial role, but can appoint whoever he thinks he leads the majority.
It should be noted that Barisan Nasional is a group supported by the United Malays National Organization (UMNO) political party. The party existed for a long time from independence in 1957 until its first defeat in the 2018 election.
However, UMNO collapsed shortly after its main figure, who was also the former prime minister, Najib Razak, was rocked by the 1MDB corruption issue. Even so, the political faction returned to power under Ismail Sabri Yaakob in 2021 after two other coalitions collapsed due to infighting.
