Malariamygg
It is infected Anopheles mosquitoes which are the main source of infection. After you have been stung, there is an incubation period of one to two weeks.
The FHI website says this about the malaria mosquito: “The parasite enters the bloodstream where it undergoes parts of its life cycle. By sucking blood from infected people, the mosquito will pick up parasites that continue their sexual reproduction in the mosquito. It is not directly contagious from person to person.”
According to the FHI, “common symptoms are fluctuating fever with frostbite and sweating, anaemia, splenomegaly, icterus and varying degrees of general symptoms. Depending on the affected organ, the patient may develop nausea, diarrhoea, kidney failure, icterus, delirium, convulsions, coma or focal neurological symptoms.”
