On the evening of August 4, Maksims Galkin gave his first of a total of five performances in Latvia. Tickets for this evening were sold out.

A fragment of the humorist’s concert application was posted on “Twitter” by the user Nepereisais, and the short video became a hit on the domestic Internet overnight – in eight hours it was already retweeted by 300 people and more than a thousand Twitter users expressed their excitement.

“Good evening, dear friends! I started learning Latvian, because now in Russia they follow very carefully everything I say at concerts. Therefore, today I will speak and joke only in Latvian. Now I see: many Latvians are afraid that I will only joke in Latvian. Don’t worry , the Russians are sitting next to you – they do not understand at all what is happening here, what they have paid for,” joked Galkin.

Other visitors also have positive words about Galkin’s performance in Jurmala:

As you know, Galkin is one of those Russian celebrities who, since the annexation of Crimea, has expressed an opinion unacceptable to the authorities about what is happening in the country, and after the Russian invasion of Ukraine, he left his homeland with his wife Alla Pugacheva and their two children. Galkin has sharply criticized the Russian propaganda machine, the regime established by President Vladimir Putin, and has also actively supported Ukraine in this war.

Galkin and his family are currently staying at their home in Jurmala. Concerts are planned for him not only in the Dzintari concert hall, but also in Liepāja, Roja and Rēzekne.
