Details: It is reported that the event was decided to be postponed for security reasons, since MAKS was usually visited by tens of thousands of people a day, the location is open and there are risks of interference with the flight program.

According to Kommersant, part of the participants in the air show has already stopped preparations for it.

Event organizers have not yet commented on the situation. It is reported that information about the new dates will be announced in the coming days.

But most of the publication’s interlocutors are talking about postponing MAKS to 2024 “or beyond.”

Experts consider the cancellation of the air show a logical solution, since without a flight program MAKS does not make sense, and it is difficult to ensure proper security measures at such a mass event.

MAKS has been held every two years since 1993, and since 2005 it has had the status of an event of federal significance, and this summer it was supposed to be held for the 16th time. Demonstration flights and demonstrations of new developments are carried out at the air show, scientific conferences are organized, negotiations are held and contracts for the production and supply of equipment are concluded. It is reported that in 2019, the premiere of the MS-21-300 medium-haul aircraft took place at MAKS.

The salon is held under the patronage of the President of the Russian Federation, who traditionally opens the event.

It is noted that for 30 years the air show has never been canceled.
