Libreville, Monday November 13, 2023 (Infos Gabon) – A torrential rain that occurred during the night of last Saturday to Sunday led to the collapse of the metal culvert at Pk 28 of Makokou.
Traffic is at a standstill on the Ovan-Makokou axis following heavy rain which fell during the night of last Saturday to Sunday. Bad weather led to the collapse of the 2000 diameter metal culvert at Makokou Pk28. Thus making traffic impossible. “For this purpose, it is recommended that users, coming from or leaving Libreville, do not travel in both directions until further notice (…) arrangements have been made to remedy this situation in reasonable deadlines,” underlines a press release from Christiane Leckat, governor of the Ogooué-Ivindo province.
It is also reported that a bus with its driver on board was swept away by the flow of water, taking two local residents with it. The three unfortunate people are interned at the Omar Bongo Ondimba Regional Hospital Center (CHROBOM) in Makokou. We remember that on October 23, President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema instructed the restart of construction work on this section.
