It’s like a story out of a fairy tale. In 2012, Mako from Japan (30) met the middle-class Kei Komuro (30) in a classroom for exchange students at a university. The two fell in love. However, according to the imperial house law, a princess loses her title if she marries outside the nobility. Mako decided to sacrifice her royal life for love after her father Fumihito (55), now crown prince, finally consented to the wedding. On October 26, 2021, she and Kei stepped in front of the altar. “I love you Mako. I want to spend the rest of my life with the person I love,” he said.
Mako’s departure from Japan followed the wedding. What you need to know about the former princess and their dramatic relationship can be seen in the video above.
