Jakarta –
United Arab Emirates astronaut Sultan Al Neyadi share the latest views Makkah city from outer space. The photo he showed to welcome the peak Hajj worship in the city.
The city of Makkah was snapped by Sultan Al Neyadi, who is currently on duty at the International Space Station (ISS).
The holy city of Muslims was clearly visible in the afternoon on Monday (26/6). In fact, the white Grand Mosque is visible from space.
“Today is Arafat Day, an important day during Hajj, which reminds us that faith is not only about belief, but also action and reflection,” Al Neyadi wrote on his Twitter account.
“Hopefully it will inspire us all to fight for compassion, humility and unity,” said Al Neyadi while sharing photos of Mecca views from space.
This is not the first time, Al Neyadi shows Mecca. Previously, he showed the beauty of Mecca at night so bright that it was visible from his residence on the ISS.
Al Neyadi is known to have lived on the ISS since March 2. He went there with the help of the Crew Dragon vehicle which was supported by SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket.
Astronaut Sultan Al Neyadi is not the first Muslim astronaut to go into outer space. Previously, there was Prince Sultan Bin Salman Al-Saud who went into space on June 17, 1985 using the STS-51G shuttle and spent a week on the ISS.
It is known that Al Neyadi will conduct 19 special experiments, such as those regarding back pain, plant biology, heart health, materials science, radiation, sleep, and fluids.
