“Making the link between young people and N2 suits me perfectly” • Actufoot • News from pro / amateur football

Promoted to the post of coach of the RC Grasse reserve following the judgment of Nicolas Vanvynckt, the former coach of the U19 Nationals of AS Cannes, David De Oliveira spoke to unveil his ambitions with his new team.

David, first of all, what do you remember from your two seasons on the U19 Nat bench at AS Cannes?

I will only retain the positive. In two seasons, the club’s objectives have been respected as we have managed to hold on twice. The first season was very interesting because we almost lived a full season and that allowed me to train at a very high level. Obviously, the period of the health crisis limited our practice. It’s a real disappointment for me. The players were unable to face the best teams in the country and that truncated their progress. I would have liked to see their evolution. This is the only small downside that I can take into account. Afterwards, having a new experience at the national level only enriched my background for the future. I have a lot more than 100 matches at this level so that will allow me to be able to register for DESJEPS.

How did you join the RC Grasse reserve?

I know Loïc Chabas since we had graduated together fifteen years ago. Beyond that, the coach of the reserve Nico Vanvynckt no longer had the diplomas to train in R2. As they noticed that they would not have any other exemption from the FFF, they contacted me to find out if I was interested. We saw each other on several occasions and the club presented the project to me. I really liked their speech and making the link between young people and N2 suits me perfectly. For me, it’s going to be a real challenge.

Overall what can you tell me about your new band?

First of all, it is a very young workforce. I arrived on the job so I only shared a few sessions alongside Nico. I had the chance to pick up with him and he was great in the handover. It was a real support for me. He introduced me to the profiles and I set up a group of about twenty players.

“I think the club want to tighten up even further with the pennant team. “

How will the preparation go?

We will resume training on July 26 and we have already stalled 7 friendly matches against opponents of different levels. It’s going to be a special recovery because it’s been 7-8 months since they had only one training per week. I worked with Emiliano, the N2 physical trainer, to set up a gradual recovery schedule. Our biggest goal is not to hurt anyone before the championship resumes on September 12th. I tried to do something professional enough to get my team ready for the competition.

What goals did you set with this Regional 2 team?

The reserve policy has always been the same and my goal will be to support players from the Grasse basin and more widely from 06 to N2, full of ambitions. After in the medium term, I think the club want to further tighten the level with the pennant team, so I would really like to try to bring this team to a rise in R1. Obviously we always want to be at the top of the table as a competitor. After that, this will not be the goal this year. My team is very young so it will have to gain experience. Personally, it will make me a link between what I have experienced with young people and seniors in the Var. I can’t wait to start the season and above all I hope to have a full one.
