Make your Apple Watch battery last for days with this simple tweak

Apple Watch Series 8 and Apple Watch Ultra are available and come with an exciting list of new features. Thanks to watchOS 9, users with Apple Watch Series 4 and later can now use the power saving mode, which will further increase the battery life of your smartwatch.

Power-saving mode is a step up from power reserve, which disables most of the watch’s functions when it is turned on. Instead, this battery saving feature will disable some Apple Watch features while keeping everything else on. It’s a useful tool, especially if you’re looking to push your Apple Watch’s battery past a day without charging.

Do you need an increase in battery life? Here’s how to turn on Power Saver mode on your Apple Watch.

How to activate power saving mode on Apple Watch

When Power Saver mode is on, your Apple Watch will turn off the always-on display (if you have an Apple Watch 7 or Apple Watch 8), heart rate notifications, background heart rate measurements, oxygen measurements in the blood in the background and reminders to start training.

Also, if your iPhone isn’t nearby, Wi-Fi and cellular connections will be disabled, along with incoming calls and notifications. It will also affect the speed of some features – phone calls may take longer, Siri may take longer to answer, animations will appear less smooth, and more.

Aside from those, your Apple Watch will function normally, all while saving battery. All it takes is a simple flick of the switch and you can even set the duration.

  1. To activate Power Saver mode, swipe up on the watch face to open Control Center.
  2. Click the battery percentage icon.
  3. On this screen, set the power saving mode switch to ON.
  4. A message will appear. Scroll down and select Play.
  5. A yellow circle icon will appear at the top of the Apple Watch screen, indicating that Power Saver mode is active.

You can also turn on Power Saver mode in the Apple Watch settings.

  1. On your Apple Watch, press the Digital Crown to access your apps.
  2. Open the Settings app.
  3. Scroll down and select Battery.
  4. Activate low power mode.
  5. The same message will appear. Again, scroll all the way down and select Play.

Here you are. When the message appears, you will also be able to select how long Power Saving Mode can remain active. You can choose between 1 day, 2 days or 3 days.

When your Apple Watch’s battery drops below 10%, an alert will alert you if you want to turn on power saving mode. It will stay on until it is turned off or until the battery is charged up to 80%.
