“We race on!” Is the motto of Formula 1. Since the real Formula 1 world is currently at a standstill due to the corona pandemic, the premier class continues virtually. The “F1 Esports Virtual Grand Prix Series” premiered in mid-March. The fifth Virtual Grand Prix in Spain took place on May 10 at the animated Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona. Williams driver George Russell snapped the simulator kings Charles Leclerc (Ferrari) and Alex Albon (Red Bull) and won for the first time. Esteban Gutierrez completed the virtual podium in the Mercedes. David Schumacher missed the points again as 13th. In the video you can watch the simulated spectacle once again in full length – commented by the RTL voices Heiko Waßer and Florian König.

In addition to Formula 1 drivers Alex Albon, Antonio Giovinazzi, George Russell, Nicholas Latifi, Lando Norris and Charles Leclerc, three world-class footballers competed at Virtual GP Spain: Sergio Agüero from Manchester City, Thibaut Courtois from Real Madrid and Arthur Melo from FC Barcelona.
