Donald Trump has surprised one more day with a latest proposal in which he has suggested making a well-known film a reality. During his last rally in Erie, Pennsylvania, attendees applauded when they heard the former president of the United States say that, if there is a wave of crime out of control, it could end up allowing “a really hard and violent day,” as well as ” a hard hour.”
That is, Trump advocates giving free rein to crime for a short period of time to, he says, fight crime. “You see these guys walking out with air conditioners and refrigerators on their backs. And the police are not allowed to do their job. They are told that if they do anything, they will lose their pension. They are not allowed to do it because the liberal left “The liberal left wants to destroy them and they want to destroy our country,” Trump says.
These words are reminiscent of the premise of ‘The Purge’, a film where one fantasizes that, for one night a year, all the crimes possible can be committed with impunity. The film depicts a United States on the brink of collapse, through the legalization of all crimes, including murder.
The Trump campaign has been quick to clarify that this is not a political proposal. What’s more, an official from his campaign has assured the media ‘Politico‘ that it was “clearly a joke.” His campaign communications director Steven Cheung reiterated Trump’s desire to “enforce existing laws.”
“Otherwise, there will be total anarchy, which is what Kamala Harris has created in some of these communities across America, especially during her time as attorney general [de California]when he emboldened criminals,” he defends.
