The Pechersky District Court supported the proposal of the prosecutor’s office and chose Tandyr a preventive measure in the form of detention without the possibility of making bail until July 21.
“At the request of the Kiev City Prosecutor’s Office, a judge suspected of committing an accident while intoxicated, a preventive measure was chosen – detention without the right to pay bail for a period until July 21, 2023,” the report says.
Prior to that, the High Council of Justice agreed to keep the judge in custody. This decision was made following the consideration of the submission of the Deputy Prosecutor General, received by the VRP on May 26, 2023.
Fatal accident at a checkpoint in Kyiv
In Kyiv, on the night of May 26, a fatal accident occurred at one of the roadblocks. According to law enforcement officers, the head of the Makarovsky District Court of the Kyiv region, Oleksiy Tandyr, drunk, knocked down a 23-year-old soldier of the National Guard.
According to law enforcement officers, the judge refused to take tests for alcohol and drugs. As a result, law enforcement officers obtained permission for a compulsory examination through the court.
Later, the prosecutor’s office clarified that the judge voluntarily agreed to take part of the tests. The suspect himself claims that he did not refuse the examination, moreover, he was sober.
At the same time, according to the investigation, a bottle of alcohol was found in Tandyr’s car. She was also sent for examination. As stated in the State Bureau of Investigation, the results of the examinations should be within 5-7 days.
If found guilty, Judge Tandyr faces a sentence of 10 years behind bars.
