A press release from the General Directorate of the National Police (DGPN) of Niger, published this Sunday, March 05, 2023, indicates that a terrorist attack carried out on Saturday March 4 against the special police station of Makalondi, department of Torodi (Tillabéri) , made A civilian injured by gunshot, 2 vehicles and the premises of the police station burned.
The DGPN press release states that ”the civilian person hit was shot and evacuated to Niamey, the premises of the special police station and two vehicles were burned, including a personal vehicle”.
”Security provisions were immediately reinforced in the area” announces the DGPN which ”urges all national police personnel to be tenacious and vigilant”.
Finally, the national police call on ”the population to work together to fight crime more effectively in all its forms”.
Makalondi is located in the area of the three borders where terrorists and other armed bandits have been rampant for a few years, it is recalled.
