“Majority of Thais Doubt Move Forward and Other Parties’ Ability to Form New Government: Poll”

Bangkok — According to an opinion poll by Suan Dusit Rajabhat University (Suan Dusit Poll), a majority of Thais doubt the ability of Move Forward and seven other parties to form a new government despite winning the majority of MPs — 313— place in the House of Representatives.

The survey was from 24. bis 26. May online at1 . 352 People across the country expressed their views on the ongoing attempt by the parties Move Forward, Pheu Thai, Prachachat, Thai Sang Thai, Seri Ruam Thai, Fair, Palang Sangkhom Mai and Peu Thai Rumphalang to form a coalition government with 313 to form MPs, which is more than half of 500Members of the House of Representatives to determine.

When asked if they have doubts that the new government can be formed, they replied67 , 83% of respondents with Yes” and cited many factors including disagreements between the parties. They believed that the eight parties, with Move Forward at its core, would be able to reach an agreement in a democratic process, with everyone showing mutual respect. When asked if they were confident that the process of forming a government would go smoothly, they replied58 , 33% they are not sure while41 ,67% agree.
