The lessor of the Hérault Logement department carried out major thermal works in three of its residences comprising a total of 82 social housing units
Alongside the energy renovations carried out by the city in its schools and public buildings (Luteva, Ramadier room) to improve user comfort and reduce energy bills, the social landlord Hérault Logement has just completed a major insulation and modernization. It concerned three aging residences, Les Pins, Grézac and Saint-Affrique, which house 82 homes.
Insulation and modernity
“The interior and exterior fittings lasted three years, while respecting the environment and the tenants’ energy bill. They cost €1.80 million and were 90% carried out by Hérault companies.” confirms Vincent Gaudy, departmental councilor and president of Hérault Logement, who came to the site this Tuesday, October 17, accompanied by mayor Gaëlle Lévêque, also elected from the Department.
“The windows had been redone. There we worked on the thermal insulation by changing the boilers, redoing the insulation of the attic and the facades from the outside, explains Jean-Luc Durand, responsible for major maintenance and rehabilitation in Hérault Housing. We also closed the dryers to limit heat loss and redid the landing doors.”
A need for housing
The energy label for housing went from C to A, as did greenhouse gas emissions from D to A. Aesthetic work was also carried out on buildings dating from the 1960s.
“78% of our population can qualify for social housing. We have 15,000 in our Hérault housing stock and we produce them every year. The Department is one of those which does the most in France in the field, continues Vincent Gaudy. Unfortunately the “Applications are growing even faster and there is a long waiting list. Housing should be a national priority, but it is not today.”
