The three major New York stock market indexes rose on the 6th.
As of the close of the day, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 288.01 points from the previous trading day to close at 33407.58 points, an increase of 0.87%; the S&P 500 Stock Index rose 50.31 points to close at 4308.50 points, an increase of 1.18%; Nasdaq The Gram Composite Index rose 211.51 points to close at 13431.34 points, an increase of 1.60%.
In terms of sectors, ten of the eleven major sectors of the S&P 500 index rose and one fell. The technology sector and communication services sector led the gains with gains of 1.94% and 1.82% respectively, while the consumer staples sector fell 0.48%.
