During a major search in Drunen on Thursday, illegal cigarettes, illegal shisha tobacco, illegal gambling games and laughing gas cartridges were found. Environmental violations, gas connection fraud, a house divided without permission and address fraud were also detected.
After several reports of concern, the Meierij Administrative Intervention Team decided to conduct a large-scale search on Thursday at companies, homes and garages at Plataanplein in Drunen.
Many illegal items were found there. There was a permit for a slot machine in one building, but no permit for other forms of gambling.
Fire hazard
There were more people living in a house that was subdivided without permission than was allowed by the zoning plan. These people were not registered, which comes under address fraud. In addition, gas was tapped illegally. Some buildings were a fire hazard and escape routes were sometimes inaccessible.
The massive investigation was carried out by the police, enforcement, customs and the town of Heusden. In addition, dog handlers, network operator Enexis, welfare organization UWV and the Environment Agency of Central and Western Brabant helped with the investigation.
