Major project for Zöchling – Hainfeld company demolishes LASK football stadium

The Zöchling company from Hainfeld is mostly on duty where huge dismantling projects are involved. The latest mega project is currently running in Linz. The LASK (Linzer Athletik-Sport-Klub) is planning to build the ultra-modern Raiffeisen Arena. For this, however, the existing stadium on the Linzer Gugl must be demolished.

In the course of the tender for this project, the Zöchling company emerged as the best bidder in the bidding process for the demolition work. Work has been in full swing since January 11th. The schedule is tight. “The work must be completed by April 16,” informs Zöchling site manager Roland Schaupp. During this time, the entire stadium must have been demolished. Around ten to 15 employees from the Hainfeld company are directly involved. The mechanical effort for the dismantling is great: “There are five hydraulic demolition excavators in use, including the two largest demolition excavators in Austria, the ‘Liebherr R954C’ and the ‘Liebherr R960 Demolition’ with an operating weight of up to 110 tons” Schaupp out.

“The resulting concrete recycling material will be used for the substructure of the new building.” Roland Schaupp, site manager at Zöchling

The Zöchling company does not carry out the dismantling entirely on its own, it also works with a number of subcontractors. The dismantling is associated with some challenges, Schaupp knows: “It starts with the high time pressure due to the short demolition time and continues with the difficult dismantling of the around 50 meter high floodlight masts, which have to be dismantled with cranes.” the directly adjacent Tips Arena. This must be particularly protected during the demolition work. And where do you put all the demolition material?

“Most of the demolition material is processed on site for recycling. The resulting concrete recycling material will be used for the substructure of the new building, ”says Schaupp. The opening is planned for summer 2022, and home games are to take place here from the 2022/23 season.

The Zöchling company also has a project going on nearby. It is building an apartment building complex in Alland with twelve units on 8,000 square meters of living space.
