It was all dark (or almost): a major power cut affected several boroughs of Paris, Wednesday June 24, 2020. Other nearby municipalities, in Seine-Saint-Denis and in the Val de Marne, were also affected.
This cut has an impact on public transport, in particular line T4, which is interrupted until at least noon.
Three departments affected, 210,000 customers without power
According to testimonies collected on social networks, the power cut reported Wednesday morning around 10:30 a.m. primarily concerns eastern Paris, in particular 19ème and 20th arrondissements. The municipalities of Lilas, Bagnolet and Montreuil are also affected. The Val-de-Marne is also concerned, in particular the city of Vincennes.
In Paris, 117,000 customers were deprived of power, Enedis told news Paris. A total of 210,000 homes suffered the cut, including 93,000 in Seine-Saint-Denis and Val-de-Marne. “It is an incident linked to the transmission of electricity,” Enedis tells us. RTE, the company responsible for high voltage lines, specifies the reasons for this failure withnews Paris :
We had a technical incident at an electrical substation in eastern Paris at 10:17 a.m. Electricity was restored between ten and 20 minutes after the cut. We apologize for the inconvenience caused.
Transport interrupted because of the cut
As a direct consequence of this power cut, the T4 tram no longer runs, at least until noon.
