Major manhunt for armed robbers, escape scooters set on fire

The police have launched a major manhunt after a jeweler on Roselaarplein in Roosendaal was robbed. That happened around 11 a.m. Wednesday morning. Shots may also have been fired during the robbery. Several robbers then fled on scooters. Those scooters were found burning a short distance away.

According to a police spokesman, a witness reports that shooting was done. What exactly happened is still under investigation.

The scooters on which the perpetrators fled were found a little further along the Molenbeekpad. A police helicopter is now also looking for the perpetrators.

The owner of the jeweler is late BN DeStem know that a boy rang the doorbell at the store around 11 a.m. Then two masked men entered. One of them had a sword with him, with which he injured the owner on his left hand when he refused to cooperate immediately.

Five minutes later, the men would have left again. Outside, one of them would have fired a shot into the air. The perpetrators are said to have stolen jewelry, part of which they lost during their flight.

An employee of the store – who was not present at the time of the robbery – was quite shocked. She says that the robbers left a big mess in the store.
