Lindholmen · From April 8, traffic in Lindholmsallén will be further affected as bus and car traffic will be allowed to coexist in the same lane. Both road users and public transport travelers can count on queues and longer travel times.

Last autumn, work began on building a new tramway and city bus line between Lindholmen and Frihamnen. Since then, traffic in the area has been affected to varying extents, including in Lindholmsallén.

From April 8, the next change will take place that will further affect traffic in Lindholmsallén. Then the bus lanes in the middle will be closed and car and bus traffic will be allowed to merge in one lane in each direction. Pedestrian and bicycle traffic moves mainly on the southern side of the avenue, closest to the water, but may periodically need to be rerouted. Follow the signs!

Changed driving routes for buses

Both road users and public transport travelers can count on queues and longer journey times, especially during the morning and afternoon rush hour. To facilitate public transport, some bus lines have already had their routes changed via Andromedagatan. Regnbågsgatan stop is permanently withdrawn. If you travel by public transport, you can keep track of changes in the Västtrafik To Go app.

Park outside the area

If you usually drive to or from Lindholmen, it may be an opportunity to consider whether you can change your travel habits. Maybe you have the opportunity to drive at other times or to choose other modes of travel? In the spring, for example, a new free ferry line will start running between Stenpiren and the new Lundbystrand stop. Those who need to take the car are recommended to choose one of the parking lots north of Lindholmsallén or at Frihamnen and then, for example, walk or take a Styr & Ställ bike the last bit. This is to facilitate accessibility in the area.

Plan the trip in the Trafiken.nu app

While this is going on, there is also limited access at Eriksbergsmotet and on Hjalmar Brantingsgatan at the height of Frihamnen. Therefore, it is especially important to plan your trip in advance. One tip is to download the Trafiken.nu app – this way you can see where the queues are right now and receive push notifications about disruptions in traffic.

The traffic solution with bus and car traffic in the same lane will become permanent when the new light rail and street are ready at the turn of the year 2025-2026.
