In a press release On Wednesday evening, the Swedish Road Administration writes that both the E14 and E6 will be closed overnight due to landslides and flooding.
E14 is closed between Stjørdal and Meråker and further south in Trøndelag, E6 is closed between Berkåk and Ulsberg.
The recommended detour for the E14 is county road 72 a little further north in Trøndelag. E39 and national highway 70, or E39 and E136 are recommended detours for E6.
– Geotechnicians have been ordered to go out and look at the roads as soon as it is light. The roads will not be opened until geotechnicians vouch that it is safe, says section chief Bjørn Ove Rotlid in the Norwegian Public Roads Administration.
More to come: – Very large quantities may arrive
Furthermore, the Swedish Road Administration encourages people to follow weather and road reports, as well as assess the need to drive in the most exposed areas. Rainfall, floods and landslides can cause several roads to be closed without warning, they write.
– Heavy rain and bad weather forecasts have meant that the National Roads Administration has had continuous patrolling of both the E14 and E6 for the past few days. We also have close cooperation and coordination with both the police, the county council, the Meteorological Institute and others, adds Rotlid.
Further in the press release, the Norwegian Road Administration writes that more precipitation is expected in Sør-Trøndelag over the next 24 hours, and locally there may be very large amounts of precipitation, without the meteorologists being able to say exactly where the most precipitation will fall.
– The precipitation is expected to decrease during the night and early in the day on Thursday.
