Dmitry Marchenko did not hide the fact that he has an extremely negative attitude towards the idea of finding a compromise with the enemy. For those who do not realize at what cost the Ukrainian Armed Forces fighters achieve victory and return the occupied territories, it is worth going to the cemeteries and seeing how many heroes have found their eternal rest there, the military general recalled.

Journalist Yanina Sokolova asked her interlocutor how he perceives conversations about the relevance of holding peace negotiations with Russia right now.
The general who leads the defense of the Nikolaev region reacted to what he heard as follows: “I want to advise those who talk about this, let them go to the cemetery and see how many people died so that we could be independent. We are now fighting for our independence not for ourselves: we do this for our children. If we stop this war now and go to some kind of negotiations, we will not be able to end the war like that: we will shift this war onto the shoulders of our children, who in ten or fifteen years will become adults, but then we will no longer exist. Russia is a powerful country. By then she will draw conclusions, and then the question will arise: will we be able to withstand at that moment“.
Then the Major General of the Ukrainian Armed Forces voiced his vision of Ukraine’s path to victory over the Russians: “I believe that we must fight back to the last. We are obliged to do this. Yes, it’s hard, yes, it hurts, yes, we are losing people, but we have no other way.”.
