Major floods also in Greece, the cities of Volos, Larissa and the island of Skiathos are the most affected. One victim took the bad weather. They rescue tourists with boats. Forecasters predict a gradual weakening of the cyclone from tomorrow.
The region of Magnesia is heavily affected by flooding. They rescued 110 tourists from the beach of the village of Saint John to the town of Volos. The water level reached one and a half meters in some places. Houses, hotels and the city’s hospital were flooded. Many cars were swept away by the water.
Hoteliers are looking for help from the fire department and Civil Defense. Rivers overflowed in the district.
The mayor of the city of Volos asked his fellow citizens not to leave their homes:
“Look how far the water has reached. Soon it will flood the streets. It will drag people. The water is reaching the bridge. I am asking you to stay in your homes. Do not go outside. The risk is very high. Save your life. I am asking you not to go out.”
They rescue people from flooded houses with boats.
Police stopped traffic in the city. The flood claimed one life. Another person is missing.
In Ilia district, after hail that destroyed farmers’ crops, wind uprooted trees and washed away coastal establishments.
There is also a traffic ban on the island of Skiathos. The streets are under water. They drain houses and hotels.
In the city of Larisa, the situation is also critical. Civil Defense forces from Athens arrived to help.
