86 apartments in Den Bosch were evacuated on Wednesday morning due to a major fire in a parking garage. According to the safety region, a lot of smoke is released. The fire is difficult to extinguish.
A car crashed into a wall in a parking garage under the apartment complex on Wednesday, a spokesperson on site reported to NU.nl. “The vehicle caught fire. The driver was taken to hospital.” According to Omroep Brabant, the driver was resuscitated, but the spokesperson could not confirm this.
It is not clear how the car caught fire. According to the safety region, it is currently unclear whether other vehicles are also on fire. “The fire is difficult to extinguish and is not yet under control,” the spokesperson said. The fire brigade is now busy with this.
“We are now mainly concerned about the people who may still be in the apartment complex.” According to the spokesperson, several residents of the building did not answer the door. “We have to be sure that everyone has left the building,” the spokesperson emphasizes.
The people who have been evacuated are being accommodated elsewhere. “This is being prioritized because of the temperature.” People are urged to stay away from smoke. As far as we know, there have been no other casualties.
According to the spokesperson, it is still “too early” to say whether there is any damage to the apartments. It is not yet known when the residents will be able to return home.
