The fire broke out around 3:30 p.m. for unknown reasons. The shed contains large amounts of substrate for potting soil and wood chips, which caught fire and caused a large smoke development.
The fire could be seen as far as Brabant. This led to the Brabant fire brigade in Liessel turning out after reports of a large forest fire, but it turned out to be the enormous plume of smoke that was visible from Grubbenvorst.
extinguishing
The fire was brought under control around 6 p.m., but according to the spokesperson, it will take some time to extinguish the fire. Smoldering substrate and glowing wood splinters must be removed from the ruins with shovels and then extinguished elsewhere on the site.
The fire service is calling on people in the area to stay out of the smoke and to close windows and doors.
