Amstelveen – In a residential building on the Dr. A major fire broke out on Plesmansingel in Amstelveen on Friday evening. The fire brigade arrived on site with a lot of equipment to fight the fire.
The first reports of the house fire came in around 9 p.m. Initially it was a medium fire, but the fire brigade soon scaled up to a major fire. Numerous sirens could be heard for miles around. In addition to various police units, the ambulance service also arrived on site.

No casualties
It is still unclear what caused the fire, but it is now clear that there have been no casualties, the fire brigade reports. The fire covered several floors and surrounding homes were evacuated. The fire brigade quickly managed to contain the sea of flames after arrival, but the smoke development was enormous and efforts were made to extinguish the fire.
Under control
Just after 10 p.m., the fire brigade reported that the fire was under control. The major fire raged in an apartment that was completely destroyed and declared uninhabitable. The blazing fire also damaged an upper balcony. The damage to surrounding apartments is still being inspected.

The fire brigade advised residents of the building to close windows and doors immediately after the fire broke out because of the smoke development.

The big fire #DrPlesmanlaan is now under control. The fire raged throughout the entire apartment and made it uninhabitable. The fire spread and caused damage to the balcony above. No people were injured.
