Major fire at Amsterdam waste processor under control

Last night, a major fire raged at a waste processing company in Amsterdam’s Western Docklands. In a shed, the fire had started in a mountain of industrial waste. Nobody was hurt.

The fire broke out around 9.30 p.m. for an as yet unknown cause. Several fire brigade teams spent hours fighting the fire.

The fire was under control around 1.15 am. The garbage was then pulled apart with shovels and driven out of the shed, so that the fire brigade could extinguish the smoldering waste further.

The fire resulted in a lot of smoke and stench in the area. People who were bothered by the smoke were advised to close windows and doors.
