Firefighters were discovered on Friday evening for a fire at a waste treatment company on Sicilyweg in the Westelijk Havengebied. Initially, around 11:00 pm, the fire was reported as a “major fire”, but an hour later, the fire brigade called it a “major fire”. That ratio means that firefighters are on site with many vehicles.
With two motor pumps from the Port Authority and an extinguishing robot, we managed to prevent the fire from spreading further.
Firefighters said the fire had spread to an “adjacent building” and that a lot of water was needed to extinguish the blaze. The extent of the damage is not yet clear. The cause of the fire is also to be ascertained.
