Last night a serious explosion took place in the Blauwe Poort, a social residential area in Sint-Pieters in Bruges. The explosion was caused by an object thrown at a house, but no one was injured.

The incident took place on the night of Tuesday to Wednesday. Local residents were awakened by a loud bang and notified the police. “There was an explosion around 3 o’clock,” confirms Lien Depoorter, spokesperson for the Bruges police. An object was thrown against a house and exploded.
There were no injuries, but two houses were damaged. “The house in question and that of the neighbors were hit,” said Depoorter. “The circumstances are under investigation.” The public prosecutor’s office has appointed a fire expert, Mayor Dirk De Fauw confirms. “They must investigate which materials were used to detonate the projectile.”
