A major disruption has brought air traffic to a standstill at Eindhoven Airport. The airport confirmed reports from Omroep Brabant. The cause of the disruption is still unknown. “This is all I can say at the moment,” a spokeswoman explained. An investigation is being conducted into the nature of the problems in order to resolve them as quickly as possible.
According to an ANP photographer on site, it is very busy in the airport hall. “It is full of people, and because the weather is nice, there are also many people waiting outside on the forecourt. It is relatively quiet. There are no people shouting.” The airport announces that all flights are delayed. According to the photographer, the digital boards with departure times have been turned off.
Omroep Brabant reports that travellers are complaining that the airport is not providing much information. The Eindhovens Dagblad heard from a passenger that Ryanair has decided to pick up people and take them to Düsseldorf airport. A spokesperson for Ryanair is not available for comment.
Transavia also flies from Eindhoven. A spokesperson for the airline confirms that flying is currently not possible. He says that he “cannot yet say what the consequences are”.
TUI is currently looking at the impact.
The website Allestoringen.nl also shows a small peak in malfunction reports for Schiphol Airport. However, that airport reports that it is not experiencing any problems.
