Major Construction Begins on D7 Motorway: Key Section with Lotouš Bypass to Open by 2027

About half of the construction will involve widening the current I/7 road to a highway, it will be forwarded to the new route in the form of the Lotouse bypass.

The Roads and Motorways Directorate (ŘSD) has selected the company for the construction of the D7 motorway section after several delays from Slaný západ interchange to Kutrovice. Its most important part is the bypass of the settlement of Lotouš, which today is a stop on the way.

(Note: We have corrected the original erroneous information, which was stated by the ŘSD in the press release, that the contract was signed. This has not happened yet, only the selection of the contractor has been made until this).

The contract for the 3.4 kilometer long section was won by Silnice Group, the cheapest out of six bidders in the tender. He offered a price of 532 million, which represents about 64 percent of the estimated price (828 million).

“Building permission has been granted for the building, property law preparation and archaeological research are being completed. Work should begin in the fourth quarter of this year.” said Jiří Veselý, spokesman for the Central Bohemia Regional Office for Central Bohemia.

About half of the construction will involve widening the current I/7 road to a highway, it will be forwarded to the new route in the form of the Lotouse bypass. A 600-meter-long wall protects the city from noise from the highway.

The new traffic lane is expected to be implemented in 2025, it should be completely ready a year later. It is uncertain whether the deadlines will be met, the tender deadline has been postponed several times, the original deadline for submission of tenders was 29 January.

Meanwhile, there are still three sections to complete the D7 in Central Bohemia. Apart from the section MÚK Slaný západ – Kutrovice, these are sections Knovíz – MÚK Slány západ (6.5 km) a Kutrovice – Panenský Týnec (6.8 km). At the section Kutrovice – Panenský Týnec already the ŘSD announce the most favorable offerbut he has not finalized the contract yet, the deadline for the tender for the Knovíz – MÚK Slaný západ part was moved to August 29.

Almost 17 kilometers of highway (the three connected Central Bohemian sections) should be opened to drivers in 2026 and 2027.
