Major companies look to Cyprus as their European headquarters

Cyprus Emerges as European Investment Hub, Attracting Major Multinationals

Nicosia, Cyprus – Cyprus continues to bolster its position as a rising star in the European financial landscape. President Nikos Christodoulides recently met with a delegation from the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC) to discuss the agency’s 2023 Annual report, revealing impressive growth and promising future prospects.

CySEC Chairman, Dr. George Theocharides, highlighted the steady expansion of the Cyprus capital market, emphasizing the commission’s commitment to adopting new European regulations. Notably, the agency is gearing up for the implementation of major regulations for the digital currency sector, set to take effect in January.

Perhaps most exciting is the growing interest from major multinational companies seeking to establish their European headquarters in Cyprus. This trend, coupled with ongoing reforms in the investment fund sector, presents a golden opportunity for the island nation. These reforms have already yielded impressive results: the investment fund department currently manages more than €10 billion in assets, with €2.6 billion directly invested in the Cypriot economy, fueling businesses and projects.

As Cyprus refines its economic strategy and pushes for global recognition, President Christodoulides expressed his commitment to providing CySEC with increased support. This alignment will ensure that Cyprus remains at the forefront of attracting foreign investment and fostering a thriving, competitive economic environment.

“The investment fund department now manages more than 10 billion euros in assets, with €2.6 billion invested directly in the Cypriot economy, promoting projects and businesses,” Theocharides said.

This commitment to financial innovation and economic diversification positions Cyprus as an attractive destination for multinational corporations seeking a stable and strategic base within the European Union.
