Rawi Q., who is wanted in the Netherlands, has been arrested during a major anti-drug operation in Istanbul. He is seen as the boss of an organization that is said to have smuggled 6 tons of cocaine to the Netherlands.

The Turkish state news agency Anadoly Agency and the AD write that the arrested 48-year-old Dutchman smuggled cocaine to the Netherlands by ship, boat or plane with his drug gang. The 6 tons of cocaine has a street value of hundreds of millions of euros.

The suspect’s lawyer says against it AD that his client is an entrepreneur in the clothing industry. He once lived in Almere and was on an international wanted list. Q. received a community service order from the judge in Amsterdam five years ago for money laundering.

“I cannot make this accusation,” the lawyer told the newspaper. “I have not yet seen a file. Precisely because Turkey has a large textile industry where high-quality clothing can be produced at competitive prices, he was in Turkey recently.”
