The seven companies pledged to “watermark” all forms of AI-generated content, from text and images to audio and video, so that users know when the technology has been used.
It is not yet clear how the watermark will appear when information is exchanged.
The companies also pledged to focus on protecting users’ privacy as artificial intelligence evolves and on ensuring the technology is free of bias and is not used to discriminate against the most vulnerable groups. Other pledges include developing artificial intelligence solutions to scientific problems such as research in medicine and mitigating climate change.
