On September 30, the Maisonneuve-Rosemont Hospital Foundation (HMR) inaugurated a new pavilion at the Maisonneuve-Rosemont Hospital Research Center, the Pavillon Claudine D’Amours, named after a patient at the Hospital. Maisonneuve-Rosemont.

The Maisonneuve-Rosemont Hospital Research Center (CR-HMR) is a major research center in cell and molecular therapy as well as regenerative medicine. It is particularly recognized for its three areas of excellence: immuno-oncology, nephrology and vision health.
Researchers, students and professionals work there in close collaboration with the aim of developing solutions that bring hope to patients and the development of new therapies. Affiliated with the University of Montreal, the Research Center is recognized by the Fonds de recherche du Québec-Santé.
Belonging to the Maisonneuve-Rosemont Hospital Foundation, this former convent has been completely renovated and equipped to accommodate research teams from the Maisonneuve-Rosemont Hospital Research Center.
Located on Boulevard Rosemont, in front of the Rosemont pavilion of the Maisonneuve-Rosemont Hospital, it is the new setting for HMR research.
It welcomes researchers and their teams. It makes it possible to welcome more researchers and therefore to recruit eminent researchers capable of translating their discoveries into new treatments accessible to patients.
It offers them more space since it increases the capacity of laboratories intended for clinical applications of cell therapy. The Pavilion provides them with more equipment, and in particular the cutting-edge technology essential for implementing avant-garde technologies.
“Giving the name of a generous donor to this pavilion at the Maisonneuve-Rosemont Hospital Research Center is the best way to thank our donors and for them to honor the memory of a loved one. This pavilion is concrete proof that innovation is happening in the East and especially at the Maisonneuve-Rosemont Hospital, ”said Julie Desharnais, Executive Director of the HMR Foundation.
The Reprogram History campaign was co-chaired by Sandra Chartrand, President of the Sandra and Alain Bouchard Foundation, and Laurent Ferreira, Chief Operating Officer of National Bank. Together, they were able to mobilize, in record time, personalities, foundations and companies, seduced by their call and the prospect of contributing to the birth of the medicine of the future and the idea of saving more patients’ lives.

The renovation of this former convent was made possible thanks to the generosity of many donors and the participation of the Government of Canada, but also of the Fondation Famille D’Amours, the Sandra and Alain Bouchard Foundation, Power Corporation, the Ariane Foundation. A partner of the Maisonneuve-Rosemont Hospital for 40 years, the HMR Foundation supports the Hospital’s strategic development orientations to better meet the needs of its patients. The Foundation supports projects aimed at the constant improvement of care, the development of teaching and the growth of research.
