Green fruity or Ripe fruity? Ultimately, it will be both. Maison Brémond 1830 has just won a gold medal and a silver medal at the prestigious New York International Olive Oil Competition, with its Heritage range.
Note that the olives of the Ripe Fruity Heritage come from the orchards of Monfort in Haute-Provence, an olive grove of more than 1,500 trees mainly of the Aglandau variety – native to Vaucluse and Haute Provence – but also Frantoio and then picked in by hand, they are pressed in Volx, at the Luberon mill. « It is a complex ripe fruitiness with floral and fruity notes like peach, red berries and ripe banana. In the mouth, we discover aromas of hay and broom. The bitterness is light compared to the ardor, which ends up being peppery on the tongue ” says Maison Brémond.
What is the New York International Olive Oil Competition?
Established in 2013, the NYIOOC is currently the largest and most prestigious professional olive oil competition. This 2021 edition saw a record participation with the participation of 1171 producers from 29 countries. Seventeen French oils were presented to the international jury composed of 21 expert tasters, awarded, winning nine gold medals and eight silver. For health reasons, the results were announced in front of more than 40,000 viewers. Receiving such an award is undoubtedly a guarantee of quality but allows producers to stand out in this ultra-competitive international market.
