Maisie Williams surprises by being part of the Sex Pistols biopic

Actress Maisie Williams, known for her role in ‘Game of Thrones’, was the first international star to join the cast of ‘Pistol’, the long-awaited biopic that will take place on the Sex Pistols. A project that is being carried out by the renowned filmmaker Danny Boyle, responsible for such prestigious films as ‘Slumdog Millionaire’.

The biopic about the group Sex Pistols will delve above all in the history of Steve Jones, the guitarist of the rock band, who was only active for 3 years, from 1975 to 1978, releasing only one album ‘Never Mind the Bollocks’.

‘Pistol’ will be a limited series of only six episodes, whose script will be in charge of Craig Pearce and Frank Cottrell Boyce, two very experienced writers in the musical genre. The first of them was in charge of the libretto for Baz Luhrmann’s hit Moulin Rouge and the second wrote the story of 24 Hour Party People, a documentary about a talent scout exploring Manchester clubs to find new rock stars.

The cast also has a face: guitarist Steve Jones will be played by young actor Toby Wallace (The Society), while Maisie Williams (Game of Thrones) will play Pamela Rooke, also known as Jordan, a British punk legend who attended the Sex Pistols in their early days. Sid Vicious will be played by Louis Partridge (Enola Holmes) and John Lydon, lead singer of the band, will be played by Anson Boon (Crawl). Nancy Spungen, bassist of the group, will be played by Emma Appleton (The Witcher).

According to ‘Deadline’, Danny Boyle has imagined ‘Pistol’ as something dark, the reflection of the streets of London screaming the songs and “the fury” that it represents. “This is the moment when British society and culture changed forever. It is the detonation of the British street, “explained the director.
